One in a Million

I'm just one in a million.

There are other girls

made of honey and glass

There are countless people

who dream of the shining stars

There are others possessed

by flowing words and bright colors.

I'm one in a million.

Who else knows how to survive

Who else stays up at night filled with thoughts

Who else feels empty without purpose.

I'm just me

But there are others who breath and talk,

who laugh in the sunshine

and cry in the rain.

There are others with my name

my face

who carry themselves with pride.

So who am I?

A girl from everywhere

and who belongs nowhere?

A girl liked by all

but known by none?

Who am I really?

Does it matter?

In a boat through the perilous seas

An adventure,

a journey,

to simply exist another day?

I'm just one in a million.

Another being made of stars and fairy-dust

floating through time.

And that is enough

to simply exist.

I am, after all

me.
