The Light of the Stars

I see the light of the stars

in the starlight of the trees

of the golden brown earth

and deep roaring rivers

and green flowered meadows

of my dreams.

It reminds me of you,

the one who shines like the stars

the one whose light never wavers,

freed,

but forgotten

like grains of sand

washed away by blue seas.

Your light is so bright

and so silver to see

and it calls

as the ocean calls to sailors

as love calls to poets,

and I just want to be

safe in your shores

where the starlight between us

burns more than fire.

But your heart is surrounded

by thorn walls

and blooded petals.

your name is still on my lips

you're still in my every breath,

what will we do

when the starlight is over

and I crash to the ground

like a fallen comet?

And when you go,

soaring to the sky

like a rising angel

my hands will reach

through air

the warmth of your arms

already a forgotten memory.

And I am left here

for eternity

watching the stars.

You are the waves

and you come and go

relentless

forgetting

me, beloved,

for your eyes are on the light of the stars

that starlight of the trees

and the old ancient woods,

the starlight

of my dreams.
